A Reunion Standard! “A REUNION ODYSSEY” was world premiered in August 2001. The lyrics speak of the spirit that draws alumni to gather from far and near, and can be customized for your group. It wasn’t until several years later that he began seriously penning tunes, but since then he has turned out a quite a few of them. Some of his better known works include “Blue,” “Fox Feathers,” and “Half Moon Bay.” Randy is a five-time entrant in the Billboard Song Contest (but no trophies so far). He is perhaps better known as a writer and publisher of music-related text, including A&M Records: The Original Discography (to be published in 2007) and its previous editions, biographies for Galaxy Productions, and monthly columns in the Cobblestone and Uncle Jam newspapers. He has contributed research to A&M Records, and to web sites devoted to the A&M and CTI labels and their artists. Kosht plays piano and sings with a local choir, and is one half (with Carla McCabe) of Musikah Avodah. They have performed a variety of worship-themed songs, and have also composed several, that were well received in this country and abroad. They have also co-produced small choir presentations for over a decade. Randy’s recent works of note include “A Reunion Odyssey,” co-written and performed with Anna (Heitman) Paul. “Odyssey,” with instrumental tracks performed by Kosht and produced by Ed Ryba, was world premiered in August and September 2001 at, appropriately enough, a pair of high school reunions. It is now availble to groups planning reunions, and Anna and Randy followed suit in 2002 with "Y2K2 (We Are Family)." A customized version of “Odyssey,” presented in April 2003, graced the Orange County Area Recognition Days of TOPS Club Inc. and has been very well received by Southern California TOPS members. It was performed by Randy and a chorus of members of the Orange (CA) chapter. Another version was performed in 2004 at a TOPS Fall Rally in the Seattle area. More songs written for TOPS featured surf, Irish, and country themes ("Welcome to TOPS Country"). See the TOPS Art and Music page for further details. Two of our most well received recent songs were written for a special occasion. "Because Of You (Processional)" and "Never Give Up" were written by Randy with Carol Jacobs as endpieces to their wedding. We will spotlight more titles as they are available.
